Fern Kanitz, LPC

LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Fern is a Licensed Professional Counselor that strives to help clients find new skills and insights that bring hope and healing into their lives. She has a broad range of experience working with children, youth and adults in diverse cultural contexts; individually and with their families. Fern understands that everyone’s circumstances are unique, everyone has strengths, and everyone deserves to be valued and respected. She works with clients to incorporate into therapy the things that, for them, contribute to safety, connection, honest participation and creativity.

Fern brings compassion and a collaborative, integrated approach to counseling that includes elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, solution-focused interventions, narrative therapy, social skills training, parent-child interactive therapy and other ways of addressing concerns that clients choose to focus on in therapy. She has additional training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI) to help those who have experienced trauma or desire to change unhelpful patterns of behavior.
